JOHANNESBURG - A South African minibus taxi driver five times over the legal blood alcohol limit at breakfast time was arrested on Wednesday for transporting 49 children in a 16-seat vehicle.
The 26-year-old man was pulled over at a routine check-point in KwaZulu-Natal province, where traffic officials found the children, aged between three and 13, crammed on top of each other for the morning ride to school.
"The man is now behind bars," Colin Govender of the Road Traffic Inspectorate said. The driver is due to appear in court on Thursday.
well this guy knows how to do it! The taxi holds 16 with 49 kids that is four trips. Now no one wants to drive drunk back and fourth four times. You load up the car and take your chances. Plus this must be a huge savings on gas. Also when was drunk driving illegal in Africa. Don't they got more serious things to worry about, like GENOCIDE. Mark my words if I lived in Africa I would be Drunk 365 days a year.
