FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Friday that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth, who was suspended for the entire 2009 season as a result of his DUI manslaughter conviction, will be welcomed back into the league next week.
"He will be reinstated after the Super Bowl," Goodell said of Stallworth.
Goodell said he sat down with Stallworth face-to-face for close to an hour at the end of the regular-season and discussed his suspension and reinstatement. Goodell indicated that he came away from that conversation convinced that Stallworth sincerely wants to turn his life around.
This has to be the greatest commissioner move of all time. God knows if I'm drunk behind the wheel and run over a civilian killing him I'm going to jail for three life terms. Stallworth first pays off the family so only goes to jail for thirty days. Life is still tricky for him though, no job and NFL kicked him out. But now after the superbowl since he met with the commissioner and said he wanted to change his life around all is forgiven. Did people really expect him to say no I want to run another guy over while Im blackout drunk, no shit you want to turn your life around buddy.
I like how the law works. Plaxico Burress, shoot yourself in your own leg, jail for two years. Mike Vick, watch animals fight, jail for two years. Donte Stallworth, run over a man killing him while you are drunk, 30 days in prison.
