(Feb. 8) – A dog breeder from Louisiana is going back to medieval times to stop the modern-day problem of runaway pet overpopulation. He's invented a strap-on canine chastity belt.

"I'm all for neutering and spaying," says Dexter Blanch. "But in some cases, it is a health risk for the dog. In other cases, the pet owner is squeamish about putting the dog through surgery. And then there are people who plan one day to breed their pet."

A Louisiana dog breeder believes that PABS -- a modern-day chastity belt for dogs -- will help control pet overpopulation.

That's why Blanch, 51, introduced the Pet Anti Breeding System – or PABS, as he calls it – a polypropylene belt with an eight-buckle locking system and a washable mesh pad for female dogs.

The device allows the pooch to do all its natural bodily functions, except one, of course.

The PABS slogan: "When the heat is on, lock it, and stop it."

This seems a little sexist for dogs. We got all the male dogs of the neighborhood running around popping chubbies left and right. They're looking for anything they can to screw, but DAMN no justice all the females on the block have been locked up. When my dog goes into heat next time damn right I'll be locking down her goods.

Pet owner killed by dogs after saving them from death

LJUBLJANA (Reuters) – A Slovenian who saved his three dogs from being put down for attacking humans was himself mauled to death by them, police said Wednesday.

"Three dogs bit their 52-year-old owner to death in Ljubljana yesterday," police spokeswoman Maja Adlesic said.

Four years ago, the three bullmastiffs attacked and seriously injured a passer-by outside their owner's house. They spent years in custody pending legal hearings, but when one of them attacked a dog handler, authorities ordered them to be put down.

Their owner, a doctor, succeeded last June in his legal appeals to get the dogs back, sparking a national controversy. After his death, an opposition party said the agriculture minister should resign for failing to stop the dogs from being released.

The dogs attacked the man in his garden Tuesday, killing him before the police arrived. All three dogs were put down following the attack.
