Nate Robinson close to becoming a Celtic

Boston Herald: A league source, as well as a Knicks source, said today that there is interest in a trade that would send New York guard Nate Robinson to the Celtics. The Celtics have narrowed their positional need to a backup point guard who can defend the position. They have until Thursday’s trade deadline to fill that need.

The Knicks, who are trying to slash their payroll for this summer’s free agent market, are only interested in players with expiring contracts. The Celtics have three players who would match up to Robinson: Eddie House ($2.8 million), Brian Scalabrine ($3.4 million) and Tony Allen ($2.5 million).

The Knicks may have particular interest in House, who played for Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni in Phoenix. D’Antoni was said to be a fan of House’s abilities at that time.

A league source said any interest the Celtics had in Sacramento forward Kevin Martin expired. A second source said that while the Celtics have continued interest in Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich, the sides aren’t close on a deal.

So the Celtics are about to make a minor tweak to the roster by sending one of House, Scal, or Allen to New York in exchange for Nate Robinson. They truly are trying to become one of the most hated teams in the history of the NBA.

If you ask me, this trade is a waste of time unless something bigger is going to happen. The Celtics should not make this trade unless they are acquiring more talent by shipping Ray Allen off. I know Allen has been a big part in the success they've had over the last couple of seasons, but with them over the luxury tax this is the only way the team will be able to bring in high end talent over the next two years. Sack up boys, the trade deadline is at 3 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Let's hope they make a MAJOR SPLASH to improve our chances to bring Banner 18 to Boston.

PS - Acquiring Robinson would be cool because we'd have the slam dunk champ and the 3 pt. champ on the same team.

Bill Polian is an asshole

Several of you have forwarded to us the link to a Super Bowl week Radio Row interview of now-former NFL V.P. of officiating Mike Pereira, who sat down with Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti of 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston.

Among other things, Pereira talked about the renewed emphasis that was placed in the middle of the last decade on the rule regarding illegal contact with receivers. Pereira made it clear that Colts president Bill Polian, a long-time member of the Competition Committee, pushed the issue due to the perception/reality that Patriots defensive backs were manhandling Indianapolis receivers.

Pereira was candid regarding his belief that the change to the application of the rule made little sense. Specifically, he said that the notion that a flag would be thrown and a first down awarded regardless of whether the contact actually generates an advantage for the defensive team "didn't seem logical."

"It was difficult for us," he said. "You always tried to officiate the game advantage-disadvantage. And so it didn't seem logical . . . to me at the time. I probably wouldn't be saying this if I didn't have just four quarters left to go in my career. But it didn't seem logical to me that you would take advantage-disadvantage out of the equation, that just a touch became a foul whether or not it had an affect or not."

Pereira also explained that the spike in illegal-contact calls has since leveled out, with the spike in calls subsiding over time.

But his broader point is an eye-opener. Not only did Pereira make it clear that Polian pushed the "point of emphasis" through the Competition Committee, but Pereira also was refreshingly candid regarding his disagreement with the requirement that any contact with a receiver after five yards mandated a five-yard penalty and an automatic first down.

So there you have it. Exactly what every New England Patriot fan already knew. What an absolute joke. We may have spied on other teams play calling, but one thing we did not do was change rules that was more suitable for our team. Fuck you Indy, hope your happy with your career .500 winning percentage playoff QB. Who knows what his record would have been if it wasn't for Mr. Polian's piece of shit ways.

Russian farmer plants explosives along with spuds

MOSCOW, Russia -- A farmer in Russia's Far East has been handed a suspended prison sentence for planting explosives in his field to ward off potato thieves.

The RIA Novosti news agency says 73-year-old Alexander Skopintsev made three tripwire-tethered explosives loaded with salt to ward off trespassers after several spud-snatchings in June 2009.

A neighbor suffered a lip injury after triggering one of the devices at the farm in the Primorye region.

The news agency says Skopintsev pleaded guilty to the illegal storage and production of explosives, but complained that the neighbor should not have stepped onto his land.

Crop season is among us. If it isn't people getting broken necks over tomatoes its getting blown up over potatoes. This guy is GENIUS. The tomato farmer has to physically beat people. This guy can sit back on his deck relax and watch people get blown to bits. Nothing physical about it.

Fight over tomato leaves man with broken neck

Miami-Dade police are looking for a person who attacked a man because his daughter picked a roadside tomato.

Rob Lerner has surgical scars underneath the neck brace he wears.

He says the morning of January 28 he was driving with his 10-year-old daughter when she asked to pull over and pick a tomato.

Once she selected her fruit police say a person claiming to be the tomato grove owner approached the two accused them of stealing and a fight ensued.

Lerner suffered fractures to his neck and spinal column.

Police have released a sketch of the attacker based on Lerner’s description.

Lerner now has titanium plates and rods inserted into his neck.

When asked what he learned from the incident Lerner says he would not have stopped if he knew what would happen.

They call the guy with a broken neck the victim?! You don't want a broken neck, don't steal tomatoes that simple. In NH as we all know there are just about as many apples as people. That being said I don't go to Macks Apples and pick away at will. I PAY to pick. If it isn't deers ruining your crops its this little devil child.

Foot-long surgical tool left inside Czech patient

PRAGUE - It took five long months for a Czech woman to discover the reason for her pain: Doctors had left a foot-long medical tool inside her abdomen.

This month, doctors at a clinic in the southeastern town of Ivancice discovered their colleagues had forgotten to remove a spatula-like surgical instrument from the woman following gynecological surgery in September.

Top regional official Michal Hasek apologized Zdenka Kopeckova, 66, and said Monday that the region, which is in charge of the clinic, plans to compensate her.

Clinic head Jaromir Hrubes blamed "a series of individual failures" and said four employees had been punished.

CT24 news television reported that the woman, who complained repeatedly to her doctors about the pain, plans to sue.

This clinic is mortally fu*ked. The article seems suprised she is going to sue. You get surgery you don't expect to wake up with a one foot spatula in you. When this lady comes back complaining of pain days later you think they would x-ray her and see this inside her but nope since they are Czechs it takes them FIVE MONTHS to discover this. If I was this ladies doctor when I see the foot spatula in her on her x-ray I dont tell her or tell her its her kidney we have to operate and take it out. When Im operating I take out the spatula and tell her we fixed the kidney.

Guess Those Nips
